Our story stemmed from the transformative journey of the tricycle business in Africa. We are driven by innovation meeting necessity.
The rise of the tricycle business in Africa began in the early 2000s when many cities faced growing congestion, poor infrastructure, and limited access to affordable transport. Three-wheeled vehicles—known locally as Keke Napep in Nigeria, Pragya in Ghana, and Bajaj in East Africa—quickly became the solution to urban mobility challenges.
By the mid-2010s, the business had exploded across major cities like Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, and Kampala. Today, we're driving the next evolution with electric tricycles and eco-friendly alternatives—a symbol of African ingenuity driving mobility, employment, and community development.

Our tricycles are a low-cost alternative to cars and minibuses — cheaper to buy, easy to maintain, fuel-efficient, and ideal for navigating both urban and rural roads. Sunride Africa is also pioneering electric tricycles on the Ghanaian market.
Sunride creates jobs for drivers, mechanics, and fuel vendors while empowering young people and returnee migrants to start small transport businesses with minimal capital.
Our tricycles bridge transport gaps between homes and main routes, serving as vital first-mile and last-mile connections — especially in areas with limited access to buses or taxis.
Sunride tricycles stimulate local trade, support small businesses, and empower women and youth to gain financial independence — all while inspiring innovation and mobility-based entrepreneurship.
With the rollout of eco-friendly electric tricycles, Sunride Africa is reducing emissions and promoting cleaner cities. Our scalable model ensures long-term impact as urbanization continues to rise.
